The Big Five – Essay Finalists for 2022

It’s a big day!!

I am pleased to announce the five finalists for my second annual Personal Essay Contest 2022 – Epitaph.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE WRITERS THAT TOOK THE BRAVE STEP AND SUBMITTED AN ESSAY.

I am thrilled that I received more essays this year than last. So, that makes me even more committed to continuing this annual contest.

To Remind You – The Prompt for 2022 was:

What will your epitaph be? And why is it perfect for you? How does it reflect your life and how you lived it?

To determine the five finalists, I used a panel of impartial judges who did not know any of the entrants, and the entrant’s name was never revealed. So they graded the essays blind.

All the essays were very different from each other and selecting the top five was a difficult process. I hope you enjoy our selected essays.

The Five Finalists Are – Voting is now over.

Please feel free to read the essays below even though voting is completed.

#1 = QUEEN MOTHER OFF ON HER NEXT ADVENTURE

#2 = SHE COPED, SHE CONNECTED, SHE THRIVED

#3 = IT DON’T MEAN A THING IF IT AIN’T GOT THAT SWING

#4 = LET’S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD

#5 = SHE’S MAD, BUT SHE’S MAGIC. THERE’S NO LIE TO HER FIRE.

Now it is time for you all to vote. You don’t have to be a subscriber to this blog, although it would be lovely to have you do so.

I once again offer the essays blind. There are no identifying elements. I have changed any mention of the author’s name to initials.

This is a ONE VOTE opportunity. So make your vote count. Voting lasts from April 1, 8 o’clock in the morning – April 5, 11 o’clock at night – 2022 — Central Time — VOTING IS NOW COMPLETED.

Just click the circle above the number below that corresponds to the essay that you like the most. The votes will be tallied and the winner will be announced – in a dedicated post complete with any social media links, a bio, and a photo – on APRIL 9TH, 2022

BEST WISHES TO ALL THE WRITERS!!

I don’t think I can do another send-out. But the links are now working again on this blog post. There was some kind of glitch even though it showed sharing on my end.
